POSITION SUMMARY

Sr. Quality Engineers are responsible for the execution and help Supervisor/Manager in development of both short and long-term goals and strategies for the quality organization, which are supportive of divisional goals. Responsibilities include development and implementation of shop floor quality procedures, support of advanced product planning (FMEAs, control plans, product/process capability studies), and audits of the manufacturing process as well as system for compliance. Sr. Quality Engineer will independently identify quality issues and improvement opportunities and take an active role in their resolution, insuring product quality that meets or exceeds customer requirements. A successful Sr. Quality Engineer is self-motivated and is a natural data driven problem solver, good communicator who can react quickly under pressure and prioritize and manage several tasks concurrently.

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

  • Quality Leadership: 
    • Relentlessly and urgently drives, monitors, assists, and motivates the pursuit of defect-free performance.
    • Independently pursues continuous improvement organizationally.
    • Leads, develops and Implements quality & environmental systems through industry & customer audits and certifications to standards such as IATF 16949, ISO 14001, VDA 6.1, Ford Q1, GM BIQS etc.
    • Mentors, supports and helps the team’s day-to-day activities of personnel in the Quality Department.
  • Internal and External Corrective Actions: Leads customer and internal quality concerns for specific lines. Complete root cause analysis, containment and drive corrective actions utilizing the Six Sigma DMAIC problem solving approach.
    • Drives root cause analysis and problem solving utilizing Six Sigma methodology and Quality Management System processes
    • Verify and validate internal and external corrective actions.
    • Responsible for monitoring and tracking assigned line customer quality data.
    • Communicates effectively to customers via emails, customer portals and through meetings.
    • Leads and supports other members with internal and external communication as it relates to specific lines.
  • KPIs (Line ownership & responsible for mentoring other team members)
    • Monitors, reports and drives improvements to customer & internal quality metrics throughout – scrap, PPM, FTT, warranty, line returns and COQ using data-based decision-making.
    • Provide disposition of non-conformances in a timely manner, assure that the proper corrective and preventive actions are taken, and follow up to assess effectiveness
    • Drives Continuous improvements (PIIs)
    • Analyzes reports and defective products to determine trends and recommend corrective actions (systemic improvements).
  • Assigned Product Launches & Change Management: Collaborate with cross functional teams to identify, schedule, and execute all quality related deliverables (line specific) including: – History of Quality – PFMEAs and Control Plans – Process Capability, GR&R and MSA – Production Parts Approval Process (PPAPs) or Part Validation for Finished Goods, Accessories, Service Parts, and as required components and raw materials
  • Serve as a Technical Resource: Support training needs with APQP, problem-solving, root cause analysis, process capability, measurement system analysis, and other data analytic techniques
  • All other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in product design, manufacturing or quality.
  • Strong problem-solving skills required
  • Strong analytical background with demonstrated ability to analyze, explain, and draw logical conclusions from complex operational, financial, regulatory and/or business data.
  • Understanding of Automotive Core tools – PFMEA, Control Plan, PPAP, GR&R & APQP.
  • Automotive experience preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task and drive critical issues simultaneously required
  • Continuous Improvement / Kaizen / Lean facilitator
  • Six Sigma Black belt Certification preferred.
  • College Degree in Industrial Operations, Mechanical Engineering, or Quality Assurance or equivalent education required.
  • Knowledgeable in geometric tolerancing/design and the use of standard inspection metrology equipment.
  • Effective trouble shooting, problem solving and organizational skills. Able to handle frequent interruptions, meet tight deadlines, work staggered shifts to cover for other supervisor absences, and handle conflict in an effective manner.
  • Understanding of statistical data, Minitab (or other statistical analysis tools) and Excel.
  • Willing and able to travel (minimal).
